A State-of-the-Art Transformation

The Vadnais Heights Allina Health Surgery Center project involved the transformation of the Helen Houle Medical Center, originally constructed by Timco Construction. This renovation encompassed the demolition of existing spaces and an extensive interior buildout, which prominently featured DIRTT solutions.

Beginning with the demolition of the dental clinic, administrative offices, and vacant areas, the subsequent buildout included essential spaces with major power upgrades tailored for the surgery center. Noteworthy enhancements featured the installation of a backup power generator, along with significant mechanical and electrical improvements. An additional elevator was strategically added to the building, and structural modifications were implemented to support cutting-edge operating rooms, as well as pre and post-op areas, and a recovery bay.

Challenges in electrical gear procurement arose from COVID-19’s impact on the supply chain, causing extended lead times. Teaming up with Gilbert Mechanical and other specialty contractors, we successfully navigated these hurdles, achieving the remarkable feat of completing the project within just 6 months.

Timco Construction’s active involvement in numerous outpatient surgery center projects, such as the award-winning 610 Medical, where the first Surgery Center for Allina Health and SCA took shape, underscores their commitment to efficiency and expertise. Through collaboration with adaptt and Synergy Architectural Studios, the team has developed a repeatable design, helping to simplify and streamline the entire process from preconstruction through construction.
